The Convention Center Authority announced the appointment of a new member, Irwin Fisher. Fisher was appointed by Mayor Karl Dean and confirmed by Metro Council last night. Fisher has worked in the hospitality industry in Nashville for years, most recently as the Vice President of Sales Administration and Training at Loews Hotels.

The Convention Center Authority voted this morning to join the Amp Coalition in endorsing the proposed bus rapid transit plan. The Authority adopted a resolution stating the body believes the Amp will assist their efforts to promote tourism and attract conventions, while addressing traffic congestion and creating a regional rapid transit system.
