Nashville’s event demand is outpacing the city’s inventory of venues. The trend is something the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. started to notice five to seven years ago.

“The demand has been so strong for Nashville that it’s difficult to fit in everything,” said Deana Ivey, president and CEO of the Visitors Corp. in an interview. “It’s a great problem to have, but it’s a problem. You want to accommodate as many events as you can.”

The Business Journal spoke with Ivey about the needs in Nashville’s event business — a large economic driver for the city, with the Music City Center alone generating $382.5 million in direct economic impact in fiscal year 2022.
