Music City Center loans artwork to Huntsville Museum of Art for Black History Month

Original works by Memphis artist Jared Small will be on display in Alabama at the Huntsville Museum of Art in celebration of Black History Month in February. Known as one of the most influential pieces by the artist, "True Blue" will be loaned out to the museum by Music City Center for the upcoming exhibit. "'True Blue' captures some Memphis blues artists performing. If you look closely at the art, you can see the expression and it really captures the heart of the moment,” said Music City Center spokeswoman Renuka Christoph. David Reyes and Peter Baldaia prepare to transport "True Blue" by Jared Small to the Huntsville Museum of Art on Jan. 30 at Music City Center in Nashville. The artwork will be on loan until May. Small's artwork is often described as "haunting" and "hypnotizing." The exhibition, “Encounters – Jared Small: Southern Moments in Time," will showcase several other pieces by the emerging Memphis artist. On display at Music City Cener will be art by six other black artists for Black History Month, according to Christoph.
