March 13, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Convention Center Authority announced this morning that the Music City Center has generated over $75 million in economic impact so far for fiscal year 2014.

The Music City Center has hosted 261 events with 239,404 attendees since July. These events generated 76,107 room nights for a total of $77.5 million in economic impact. In February alone, the MCC hosted 28 events with 52,289 in attendance, generating 8,899 in total room nights and $8.5 million in economic impact. Tax collections continue to outperform projections and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 4.6 percent year over year for December 2013.

"We are very happy with how things have gone so far during this first year of operation," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. "Every group that has been with us since the beginning of January has set record attendance and our team has done a great job keeping things running smoothly."

The Music City Center is hosting the American Trucking Association Annual Meeting this week and will welcome the American Animal Hospital Association Conference next week, another event expected to have record-breaking attendance.
